Estero, FL – Looking to avenge a close 2-1 loss to their in-state rivals from the previous night, the Florida Everblades return home to Germain Arena Friday for a 7:30pm rematch with the Orlando Solar Bears.
The red-hot Bears used a shorthanded goal early in the third period Thursday to halt the Blades’ brief two-game winning streak while securing their sixth win in seven tries.
Though Orlando and Florida have the most penalty minutes in the Eastern Conference, the two sides combined for just 32 penalty minutes on 13 infractions, though tempers flared throughout the slow-paced rivalry showdown.
Blades captain Mathieu Roy, who played his first game of 2013-14 on November 6, is already above a point-per-game clip with eight points (4g, 4a) in seven appearances.
Solar Bears goalie Garret Sparks made his first start in net Thursday for Orlando and turned aside an impressive 30 of 31 shots for his first win of the season.
Tickets are now on sale at the Capital Bank Box Office at Germain Arena, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Friday’s in-state grudge match will be broadcast locally on 98.1 FM The Island and worldwide online on America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 7:15pm.
