Estero, FL – Fresh off a 1-1-1 homestand against out-of-division competition, the Florida Everblades are on the road to open a three-game South Division swing, starting Thursday at The Arena at Gwinnett Center against the defending South Champion Gwinnett Gladiators.
It is the first meeting of the year between the two long-time divisional rivals. Last season the Blades claimed the eight-game season series with the Glads with a 5-2-1 mark.
Trying to bounce back after dropping consecutive contests for the first time all season, Florida welcomes rookie phenom Kristers Gudlevskis back between the pipes. In two starts to open the season, the Latvian netminder turned aside 32 of 35 shots to post a 2-0-0-0 record and a 1.50 GAA.
Shaking off a 1-7-0-0 start, the Gladiators have won two of their last three. Gwinnett bolstered their front line on Wednesday, acquiring 2012-13 18 goal-scorer Mike Embach from the Cincinnati Cyclones for future considerations.
Thursday’s divisional tilt will be broadcast locally on FOX Sports Radio 1350 AM and worldwide online on America ONE, the official internet television provider for the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:50pm.
