ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Tuesday that forward Mathieu Roy has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week. In addition, goaltender Jesse Deckert has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week.  Both awards are for the week of March 25-30.

Roy totaled 12 points (5g, 7a) last week in four games played against Orlando in the final week of the regular season.  Roy tallied five points (2g, 3a) in an 8-3 win on Tuesday, had two points (1g,1a) in a 3-1 on Wednesday, recorded a pair of assists in a 5-1 win on Friday and had three points (2g-1a) in a 6-3 win on Saturday.

The Amos, Quebec native led the ECHL this season with 38 goals and 89 points, becoming the first player to lead the league in both categories since 2008-09 when former Everblades Kevin Baker accomplished the same feat. Last week,  Roy was named to the All-ECHL First Team.

Deckert posted a 4-0-0 record with a 2.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .927 last week against Orlando.  Deckert made 22 saves in an 8-3 win on Tuesday, had 27 saves in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday, stopped 28 shots in a 5-1 win on Friday and made 25 saves in a 6-3 win on Saturday.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has appeared in 11 games with the Everblades this season posting a record of 9-1-1 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.   Deckert joined the Everblades on March 6 after concluding his four-year collegiate career at the University of Manitoba.-----------------The Everblades will face the Elmira Jackals in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2013 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, and will play host to Elmira at Germain Arena beginning this Friday (April 5).
