EVERBLADES ACQUIRE THE RIGHTS TO GOALTENDER CODY REICHARD
ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today the team acquired the rights to goaltender Cody Reichard from the Stockton Thunder in exchange for future considerations.
Reichard, 26, has posted a 13-8-5 record, a 2.64 goals against average, and a .911 save percentage this season for Stockton. The 5-11, 165-pound netminder is currently recalled to the American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros.
The Celina, OH native was a standout goaltender at Miami University (Ohio). Reichard posted a record of 53-24-9, a 2.10 goals against average, and a .912 save percentage during his four-year collegiate career (2008-12).
Reichard racked up several accolades while with the Redhawks. He was named the CCHA Player of the Year, All-CCHA selection, and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in his junior season (2009-10). In the same season, he recorded 19 wins, and broke Ryan Miller’s (Buffalo Sabres) league play record with a 1.23 goals against average.
The trade officially took place on Thursday prior to the close of the ECHL trade deadline.
The ‘Blades road swing continues tonight in Fort Wayne. Game time is set for 8:00p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on 96 K-Rock (96.1 FM).
The Everblades next home game is Wednesday, March 13 against the South Carolina Stingrays. It will be the final Wednesday game of the regular season, and the fan’s last chance to enjoy $2 drafts, $2 wines, and $2 hot dogs all night long!
