ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Ryan McGinnis.
McGinnis posted 11 points (1g, 10a) in 33 games with the Everblades last season. In addition, McGinnis was a member of the Everblades Championship team last spring, and registered+ a goal and an assist in two playoff appearances.
The 6-2, 205-pound defenseman also logged two assists in 30 games played with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League last season. McGinnis has played a total of 101 games in the AHL during the past four seasons, which included additional stints with Albany, Norfolk, and Manitoba.
During the 2010-11 season, McGinnis helped lead the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) to an Eastern Conference Championship, putting up eight points (1g, 7a) in 15 playoff appearancesm while registering 21 points (5g, 16a) in 30Â regular season games.
McGinnis totaled 12 points (2g, 10a) and a plus-13 rating in 43 games played with the 'Blades during the 2008-09 season.
The Flint, Michigan native is a 2005 sixth-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings. He played a majority of his major junior hockey league with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League.
The addition of McGinnis comes days after defensemen Ryan O'Byrne and Mark Stuart left the Everblades to return to their respective NHL teams.
McGinnis is expected to be in the lineup when Florida opens up a three game set against the Toledo Walleye beginning on Wednesday at Germain Arena. Game time is 7:30 Wednesday’s game features $2 drafts, $2 wines, and $2 hot dogs all night long!Wednesday is also College Night, as ladies can receive a free ticket, while guys can receive a $5 ticket by presenting their college I.D. to the Capital Bank Box Office prior to the game.  The game will be broadcast on 96 K-Rock (96.1).
