Madore, Everblades Blank Stingrays 2-0

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The Everblades Rob Madore made 34 saves to complete a 2-0 shutout victory over the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night. The win was the fifth straight for the Everblades.

After a scoreless first period, the Everblades struck first at 6:40 into the second. Ryan McGinnis fed a pass to Brayden Irwin at the blue line. Irwin caught the puck in stride, and broke in on goal firing a shot from the right side of the slot.  The snap shot ripped past the glove of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis to give Florida the 1-0 lead.

Nearly five minutes remaining in the period, South Carolina was awarded a penalty shot because the Everblades s were called for closing the hand on the puck while in the crease. The Rays leading scorer Hunter Bishop took the penalty shot, and with a wide approach to the net fired a wrist shot from the left wing circle. The puck was stopped off the pad of Everblades netminder Rob Madore who made the save.

Madore stopped aside all 14 shots faced in the second period, and the ‘Blades  took the one-goal advantage into the second intermission.

The Florida defense remained stingy in the third, and manged to keep South Carolina in check. Madore continued to turn aside everything the Stingrays threw at him in the final stanza.

In the final minute, the Stingrays pulled the goaltender to allow for the extra attacker. After a wild scramble for the puck, Florida’s Charles Landry hurled the puck off the boards out of his own end.  The puck angled off the boards, and made its way all the way down the ice into the empty net for the goal with one second remaining to give the Everblades the 2-0 victory.

Madore earns his second career shutout, stopping all 34 shots faced in the contest. Jakaitis takes the loss allowing one goal on 25 shots faced.  Bryaden Irwin's second period goal puts him at seven in the last seven games.
