ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades announced Saturday that defenseman Tommi Kivisto has been recalled by the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Kivisto has posted seven points (2g, 5a) in 14 games played with the Everblades this season. The 6-1, 195-pound blue liner played the previous three seasons with Jokerit Helsinki (SM-liiga) logging 11 assists. During the 2008-09 season, Kivisto accumulated 22 points (1g, 21a) with the Red Deer Rebels (WHL).
The Vantaa Finland, native was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the seventh-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Everblades will battle the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday at the North Charleston Coliseum beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Florida’s next home game is on Friday, November 30 against Greenville. The two teams will meet again on Saturday, December 1, which is the annual IBERIABANK Teddy Bear Toss game. Bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the ice after the Blades score their first goal.
