ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Thursday that forward A.J. Jenks has been assigned to the team from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Jenks joins the Everblades after logging an assist in six games played with Charlotte this season. The 6-2, 200-pound winger totaled nine points (4g, 5a) in 52 appearances last season split between Charlotte and the San Antonio Rampage last season. In addition, Jenks posted six points (3g, 3a) in 13 games played with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) last year as well.
In his first pro season, Jenks registered 20 points (8g, 12a) in 63 games played with the Rochester Americans during the 2010-11 season. He totaled 193 points (79g,114a) during his four-year junior career with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League from 2006-2010.
The Wolverine Lake, Michigan native is a fourth-round selection of the Florida Panthers of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Florida’s next home game is on Friday, November 30 against Greenville. Fans who bring a new unwrapped toy to the game to donate to Toy for Tots, can receive a discounted endzone game ticket for just $10.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday, December 1, which is the annual IBERIABANK Teddy Bear Toss game. Bring a stuffed animal to throw onto the ice after the Blades score their first goal. All of the stuffed animals will be rounded-up and distributed to local children’s charities.
