Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Jeff Dimmen for the 2012-13 season. Dimmen, 26, joins the Everblades after helping lead the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) to the team’s first Calder Cup Championship this past June. The 6-0, 195-pound blue-liner posted 17 points (3g, 14a), 63 penalty minutes, and a plus-9 rating in 64 appearances with the Admirals last season. Additionally, he logged one assist in six postseason contests during last year’s Calder Cup Playoffs.
“Jeff is a solid two-way defenseman, who won a Calder Cup with a Norfolk last season,” said Poss. “He is a hard-hitting player who also can play on the power play.”
The Colorado Springs native totaled 67 points (27g, 40a), which includes a 30-point junior season, during his four-year collegiate career at the University of Maine (2007-2011). During his time with the Black Bears, he played in the annual College Classic tournament which takes place at Germain Arena in December. Following his college career at Maine, he played seven games for the Portland Pirates (AHL) collecting one assist and seven penalty minutes.
The Everblades open up their 15th anniversary season at home on Friday, October 12 against the Orlando Solar Bears. The two teams will also meet the week prior, for a pair of preseason exhibition games played at Germain Arena on October 5 and October 6. Individual game tickets will go on sale beginning this Friday, September 7.
