Everblades Acquire Forward Tommy Thompson from Idaho

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Friday that the team has acquired forward Tommy Thompson from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for the rights to forward Justin Kea and future considerations. Additionally, Tommy Thompson has agreed to terms with the Everblades for the 2018-19 season.

Thompson, 27, joins the Everblades after posting 13 points (3g, 10a) in 36 games played with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Texas Stars last season.  In addition, Thompson logged eight points (2g, 6a) in 11 appearances with Idaho.  The 6-1, 190-pound forward also made nine postseason appearances with the Steelheads this past spring.

Thompson played parts of two seasons with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) from 2016-2017 recording 35 points (18g, 17a) in 66 games.  The Londonberry, New Hampshire native totaled 57 points during his four seasons at St. Lawrence University (ECAC) from 2011-2016.

Kea, registered 41 points (18g, 23a) in 65 games played with the Everblades last season.

Opening Weekend is slated for October 19 & 20 when the Everblades play host to the Norfolk Admirals at Germain Arena. The ‘Blades will play a pair of preseason contests at home on October 5 & 6 against Orlando.
