Blades Claim Victory at Gwinnett, 5-3

Duluth, GA- The Florida Everblades tallied a win to their record in a 5-3 contest against the Gwinnett Gladiators Sunday afternoon, to close the series on a winning note in the Arena at GwinnettCenter.
The Everblades, much like their first two games this weekend started off strong in the first period, tallying two goals for the team similar to Friday and Saturday’s game. Trevor Bruess put up the first goal for the Blades at 2:16 of the first by shooting it past the right hand side of Gwinnett goalie Mark Guggenberger.
Coming in for a second goal for Florida was Aaron Bogosian on a right side snipe past Guggenberger at 12:59 of the first. The Blades we able to suppress three Gladiator power plays in the first period.
Quickly into the second period, Austin Levi was able to stretch the lead further by scoring within :58 seconds of the period, extending the gap to 3-0.
The Gladiators began to pick up momentum in the second period, similar to the previous two games Friday and Saturday, as Rob Kwiet got a shot in between Everblades goalie Trevor Cann’s legs at 2:29 of the second. Further into the period, Gwinnett closed the gap further to 3-2 as Joey Haddad passed a blind back hander to Brendan Walker who made a goal at 17:33 in the period.
The Blades dominated offensively in the third, trumping the Gladiators with shots on goal at 12-6. Joey Haddad scored an unassisted goal at 12:23 off of the crossbar into the net, tying the game at 3-3.
Unlike the previous two games, the Blades fired back, at 13:06 in the third Oliver Dame Malka made a beautiful shot from the point, off of Guggenberger and into the top of the goal, making the score 4-3. Finally in the third, the Blades secured their victory as Stefan Della Rovere made a final goal to top off the afternoon at 18:36 of the final period.
The Blades will return to home ice against the Orlando Solar Bears on Tuesday Evening at 7:30pm in hopes of dominating the first of a three game home series at Germain Arena in Estero, FL.
